Dr. Wolfgang Hevert Prize 2026
70 Years of Hevert: Research for the Naturopathy of Tomorrow
Every two years – including this year – the Dr. Wolfgang Hevert Prize is presented. For the tenth consecutive time, researchers are invited to apply with their scientific study projects in the field of integrative medicine.
To highlight Hevert-Arzneimittel's tradition in naturopathy, this year's research award is held under the motto "70 Years of Hevert: Research for the Naturopathy of Tomorrow", marking the company's 70th anniversary.
Important: The project must not yet be completed.
The award ceremony will take place on 21 November 2026 as part of the Hevert Specialist Conference for Naturopathy in Feldkirchen near Munich.
The Dr. Wolfgang Hevert Prize is endowed with €10,000.
In 2024, the research project by PD Dr med Maximilian Storz, research associate at Freiburg University Medical Center, was awarded. The aim of his work was to validate a German LAKE score for assessing the dietary influence of various forms of nutrition on acid–base balance. If this balance is disrupted, acid stress may occur, which is a recognized risk factor for chronic kidney disease. The study has since been completed and published.
This year's jury once again consists of experts from various disciplines. Projects will be evaluated by Prof Dr med Karin Kraft, expert in naturopathy at Rostock University Medical Center, Prof Dr Dr phil Harald Walach, clinical psychologist, and Dr med Rainer Matejka, general practitioner and expert in biological medicine at the University of Milan.
Submit your scientific work now, including basic research, clinical trials, or therapeutic concepts in the field of integrative medicine.
The following four defined criteria, weighted differently, will be assessed:
- Topic (35%): Innovation, originality, relevance to naturopathy and health policy, sustainability, and practical relevance (for clinical and preclinical research)
- Methodology (35%): Quality of the study design, development of the study plan, and feasibility of the study concept in accordance with scientific standards
- Business Plan (15%): Review of financial planning, evaluation of available resources, and financial feasibility
- Assessment of the Applicant (15%): Potential impact on the reputation of naturopathy, feasibility, reputation of the applicant or institution, as well as previous scientific achievements and awards
